Buckwheat is a seed rather than a grain with a slightly nutty and earthy flavour that works well in both sweet and savoury dishes as an alternative to rice or nourishing base for granola. Our buckwheat is organically grown and has been hulled to remove its inedible husk, leaving the nutritious whole seed intact.
HOW TO COOK: Rinse and drain buckwheat well. In a medium sauce pan, combine buckwheat groats with 1 3/4 cups water, 1 Tbsp butter and 1/2 tsp salt. Bring to a simmer then cover with a tight fitting lid and simmer on low for 18-20 minutes.

Wheat and barley may be grown in proximity to buckwheat in the field. The supplier has various controls to remove any foreign seeds such as colour sorters to remove foreign seeds. Product hass 99.5% purity and is not currently tested for gluten
